David Boulton was educated at a Quaker school and Guys Hospital, he has used material from his earlier life to inform this debut novel. A five generation connection with the Peak district provides it with a strong sense of place, and his interest in railways and canals inform its background.
An accidental discovery in The Bakewell Bookshop, a history of the unusual railway between Cromford and Whaley Bridge, sparked an interest which he uses as a basis for Fatal Connections. Fatal Connections, his first novel, was published in April 2016, followed in September 2017 by Echoes Down the Line with the final book in the trilogy, Signal Failures, released in June 2019. He has also written a number of unpublished short stories and is working on a WW2 epic. |
